After researching several articles related to wearable technologies, I was intrigued with the FitBit Charge HR. I have heard a little bit about the FitBit, and was interested in purchasing one myself, but never got around to it. This wearable technology would be divine to incorporate for athletes around the world. I would specifically like to incorporate the FitBit into my coaching setting.
The FitBit is a band that is worn on the body, (i.e. around the wrist) that tracks daily activity. By turning on this bracelet, it will track steps taken, calories burned, distance walked, floors climbed. This band also acquires sleep, and restlessness. By using green LED lights, it also track heart rate.
While conditioning my athletes I would have them wear the FitBit. This way, I can monitor heart rate, ensuring they are in targeted area, and take into consideration calories burned. However, even though these are positive attributes, there are negative aspects about the FitBit Charge HR as well.
The FitBit is not as accurate as the heart rate monitor because it is worn around the wrist instead of the heart. The FitBit is extremely high-tech so it may be difficult to understand how it operates. Furthermore, the FitBit is expensive and it would be a difficult task to persuade parents to purchase an expensive gift for their gymnast.
